Overview:

The cornerstone of the Stonington Institute in historic North Stonington is the 12-step program for treatment of alcoholism, drug addition, PTSD and co-occurring mental issues. The Institute offers residential detox in a coed 18-bed unit, ambulatory detox, chemical maintenance, intensive outpatient programs and early recovery groups. The principal focus of its partial hospitalization/OP program is medication management and monitoring.

Stonington has two specialty units. Its 28-bed Starlight Program addresses substance abuse and PTSD facing active military personnel, and its 10-bed Intensive Adolescent Residential Treatment Center provides behavioral treatment for adolescent boys who have moderate to mid-developmental disabilities and health/substance abuse issues. There is also a certified school program on campus.
